School & Education

I’m not going to sit here and bash school (even though it’s shit), but there seems to be a misconception between school and education. We were always told “You need to go to school to get an education,” but all of that is far from the truth. I mean sure, we learned how to count, read, spell and other basic things, but from a certain point, it all became slightly pointless you know…

Please tell me one time I’ve used the Pythagoras theorem or finding the perimeter of an isosceles triangle in life. I can understand learning it if you’re going down a route that requires it, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s pointless.

University fully highlights the difference between school and education and how much of a scam it is. Unless you’re going into the medical field or law, there’s honestly no need to waste your money on it. Everyone that has gone to university knows that you learn jack shit in your lectures (you probably won’t even remember anything that’s said), until you go home and study it for yourself, which ultimately shows EDUCATION IS FREE!

We’re paying 9k a year for slides, FOR SLIDES! Just to get a piece of paper at the end that doesn’t even guarantee you a job. Everything is on the internet now, and you can teach yourself whatever you want how you want, tailoring your education personally. I didn’t know a single thing about marketing before I searched it up, and now I know each of the disciplines, the different types, SEO, CRM etc. Just from me educating myself.

I sadly might have to go back to University, but the honest truth is I don’t have to. If I knew better I would have done an apprenticeship as I would be where I’m trying to be now (although I didn’t know what I wanted to do then). Don’t get me wrong, school is good for the basics and a few other things, but the whole “education system” is fucking terrible.

But what can I do about it 🤷🏽‍♂️?

9k a year for slides! 🙂 It’s a system of perverse incentives, rewarding teachers ,people in positions of power… Not to educate better… But to ‘represent’ how they have educated people better

This game has different level of pleasure every level and
different games supply. Hence, it’s best end up being practical and check out
playing tried and true. Setting a profit cut off a very good idea

In the 80s, my daughter had a teacher who grew so angry with me over my insistence that my daughter wasn’t learning anything in her classroom that the teacher dared me to teach my daughter myself. So I did. I quit my job, became instantly quite poor, taught myself how to provide an education to an incredibly intelligent kid and provided a learning environment for all three of my children through high school. Two went to university on academic scholarship and one nearly made it to the Olympics and now is a performer for Cirque du Soleil in Vegas. I think the US education is one of the worst systems in the world. Apprenticeship has worked and still does work. The type of education system that the US system adopted in the 50s never works. It has been tried and dismissed by all other countries except the US and Germany. That, alone, speaks for itself. Great, thought provoking post!

You’re definitely right, and thank you so much! It’s great to hear your children are doing very well and hopefully they will continue to prosper
