I thought I would switch up the ting and write a poem for Berry and relate it to being black, or just black people in general. I’ve also decided to do it in parts and structure it the way a song would be (so chorus, first verse, etc.) When done I will post the full version to be read in its entirety, but today we’re going to start with the chorus, so here it is.
“Light skin or dark skinned
Rich black or poor black
Uptown or hood rat
Just know you’re still black
House slave or field slave
Gold chains or no chains
Toyota or a big range
Just know your skin ain’t changed”
