Day 9 – Saddest Game Scene

Yes, I did skip two days/questions, but:

  1. I don’t have a favourite game couple. At least not one with any significance to me in a game I have played
  2. I honestly don’t know what game has the best soundtrack, so I can’t answer that

WHICH leads me to this, what is my saddest video game scene?

This was an extremely easy one for me. And it has to go to The Walking Dead: Season One when Lee is on his last legs, and Clementine has to leave him dead (either way).

I could never cry over a game, but I’m not going to lie, it was very emotional. Never have I ever cared about video game characters so much in my life, it was almost as if Clementine was my daughter the way I was going about it.

I was so shocked/upset when Lee got bit, but it basically got swept to the side because Clementine was the main priority. But it all started to hit home when they got locked in the store, and Clementine had to fight the zombie by herself because Lee, simply did not have the strength to get up.

This is also the first time I have actively tried to find a way to save a character (as I picked to keep his arm), but it was to no avail. I even read the developer’s thought of having an option so you could save Lee, and the fact they didn’t implement that makes it even more saddening.

The Walking Dead series is honestly one of my favourite games EVER and by far the best storytelling games ever made (argue with yourself). I still can’t believe I have not played season 3, but I DEFINITELY WILL!

Here’s a clip of the scene I was talking about if you have not seen it (hopefully, it doesn’t make you too sad).
